Itinerary: St.Petersburg – Valaam Island – Petrozavodsk – Kizhi Island – St. Petersburg
Day 1 Arrival to St. Petersburg. The local guide will meet you in the arrival hall of the airport and give a short orientation on the way to the hotel. Check-in.
Free time. Overnight in St. Petersburg.
Day 2 Breakfast at the hotel. Meet your guide in the lobby of the hotel.
Half day bus City Tour. You will get acquaintance with the city and it’s most attractive sights such as the Peter & Pauls fortress, Split of the Basils Island, Admiralty, Palace and Senate (former Decembrists) squares, Summer garden, Mysterious St. Mikhail’s Castle, Our Saviour on a Spilled Blood, St. Isaac’s cathedrals and others. During the tour you will make stops to take pictures.
In the afternoon you will visit the world famous State Hermitage. Optional: Boat trip along the rivers &channels “North Venice”.
Day 3 Breakfast at the hotel.
Today you will have a unique excursion “The key to the Russian history” to Shlisselburg (Oreshek) Fortress which in translation means the key fortress, located on the island in the Ladoga lake where you will get by boat.
After return to St. Petersburg you will have some free time for leisure and shopping. You can also book one of our optional excursions or to explore St.Petersburg by your own.
Overnight in St. Petersburg.
Optional: Folk show “Feel yourself Russian” in Nikolaevsky palace.
Day 4 Breakfast at the hotel.
This day you can spend on your own or take an amazing opportunity to have one more unusual but very interesting optional excursion to Vyborg located to the North from St. Petersburg at the shore of the Gulf of Finland near the Finnish boarder. Here you will see a beautiful castle with bastions surrounded by the landscape park.
Overnight in St. Petersburg.
Day 5 Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. Meet your guide and be ready to have an unforgettable trip to Karelia - a remarkably beautiful land of white nights, boundless forests, and blue lakes.
Transfer to Priosersk where you will see one more beautiful fortress – Karella. Then by the hydrofoil you will reach Valaam Archipelago. Located in the northern part of the Ladoga lake it consists of 2 large and 50 small islands. You will visit an ancient orthodox monastery, Transfiguration Cathedral and St Nicholas’ Church, have a lunch in the monastery dinning room (trapeznaya) and taste the traditional Russian dishes prepared by monks. Transfer to Sortavala and overnight.
Day 6 Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out. Trip to the Ruskeala marble canyon. You will see a beautiful lake of emerald color framed with 25 meter high marble rocks, visit some of the marble mines and go along a small bridge under the12 meter thick marble walls. Then you will visit a unique Karelian village Kinerma and have a lunch in the original Karelian house and taste national Karelian cuisine. Arrival to Petrozavodsk. Check-in. Overnight in Petrozavodsk.
Optional dinner with Karelian national folk show.
Day 7 Breakfast at the hotel.
A brief city sightseeing tour in Petrozavodst. Then you will start a trip on a hydrofoil to another pearl of Karelia – Kizhi Island located in the heart of Onega Lake. It is an open-air museum of wooden architecture and UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will see the Church of the Transfiguration, the Church of the Intercession and the Bell Tower. Return to Petrozavodsk. Lunch. Transfer to the train station.
Departure to St. Petersburg. Overnight in the train.
Day 8 Arrival to St. Petersburg. Transfer to the airport. Departure.
